A consulting partner grounded in real-world not-for-profit experience.
Jon Hoffmann, Principal
Jon started his career in the for-profit world as a researcher and project manager for Olson Zaltman Associates, an internationally-known marketing strategy consulting firm. There, he developed branding strategies for Fortune 500 technology, healthcare, and consumer goods companies, including household names like Microsoft, Pfizer, and Campbell’s Soup Company.
After obtaining a Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, he shifted his focus to mission-driven organizations. From 2012 to 2019, Jon held leadership roles at Community Human Services, a Pittsburgh-based innovator in harm reduction, basic needs social services. As the Chief Operating Officer, he oversaw daily operations while serving as an in-house strategy consultant for the agency. He led the development of a five-year strategic plan to expand the service portfolio while consolidating operations. In implementing that plan, he managed a successful capital campaign including funding a reserve endowment for future operations. He also stewarded the organization through a leadership transition as the Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Starting in 2010, he also began to take on occasional consulting engagements, starting in communications strategy and broadening to organizational business strategy and program design. In 2019, Jon launched Hoffmann Consulting, with the goal of taking his experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds to help organizations think and work strategically to achieve their missions.
